The Windy Hill Skating Club was founded in 1978 and is a member club of the United States Figure Skating Association. Windy Hill exists to provide the opportunity for advanced figure skaters to progress beyond the Basics of figure skating within the framework established by the United States Figure Skating Association.
Windy Hill membership is open to all skaters and includes membership in the United States Figure Skating Association. Various classes of membership are available. Windy Hill members have the opportunity to train individually with a Professional Figure Skating coach during special times and days contracted by the club at the Dorothy Hamill Rink in Greenwich, Connecticut as well as other local rinks throughout the area. Windy Hill provides  ice time in 2-hour sessions on Fridays and Saturdays during which no more than 26 member skaters are allowed to skate at any one time. Skaters may purchase a subscription for the season or pay-as-they-go as a 'walk-on' skater.
Skaters are provided the opportunity to advance through the eight levels of Freestyle skating,Moves in the Field and Ice Dancing as established by the United States Figure Skating Association at test sessions scheduled throughout the year by our Test Chairman.. U.S.F.S.A. Judges are invited to the test sessions to judge and critique those skaters desiring to be tested.
Windy Hill sponsors and co-hosts with the Town of Greenwich, the Annual Greenwich Town Competition. Â Over 100 Skaters from Greenwich Skating School, Windy Hill Skating Club, and various other skating clubs participate. In addition, members have the opportunity to compete at various levels at many other amateur competitions sanctioned by the United States Figure Skating Association including Annual New England Regional and Eastern Sectional qualifying competitions for both the Junior National Championships and the National Championships.
Windy Hill is represented annually at the New England Regional Qualifying Competition by skaters at the Juvenile level and above. Medalists at these competitions include Mauro Bruni and Diana Pincus, with Mauro progressing to Sectional, National and International competition and winning a Bronze medal at a North American Challenge Skate Competition at Lake Placid.
Windy Hill has sponsored and hosted various Exhibitions and Shows which included appearances by such well known skaters as: Dorothy Hamill, Oksana Baiul, Sarah Hughes, Shepherd Clark and others. Instructional Clinics sponsored by Windy Hill have included such professionals as Tom Litz, Leigh Ann Miller, Evy Scotvold, Bobbie Shire, Jo Jo Starbuck and Robin Wagner.
