Timberline Gallery was founded April 12, 1985. It is the oldest established Fine Arts Gallery in Eastern Madera County. This Mountain Area has long been a mecca for artist's who have been drawn by the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada. At first they displayed their work in local offices, banks, restaurants and Yosemite Western Artists Shows.
Seeing the need for a permanent Gallery, 30 members founded and incorporated The Guild of Mountain Artists which owns and operates Timberline Gallery as a not-for profit co-op. The member artists began displaying and selling their art work out of Timberline’s present location at 40982 Highway 41 North in what is now known as Gallery Row.
Historically Timberline has served as an incubator for the arts, and has attracted four other Fine Arts Galleries to the Gallery Row location: Stavast Studio and Gallery, National Parks Art Center, Stellar Gallery and Williams Gallery West. Timberline has co-sponsored student art shows and student projects with the local schools. Cooperating with other local nonprofit organizations to enhance the cultural richness of our Mountain community has been a constant tradition.
Our members are award winning artists in juried competitions. Many have their work in corporations and International collections. A number have been featured in National art magazines. Timberline artists work in a large variety of art media which includes oils, watercolor, acrylics, pastels, mixed media, colored pencil, glass mosaics, ceramics, jewelry, wood carving, sculpture, fiber art, gourds and baskets.
