About Us:
Let us, before we die, gather up our heritage and offer it to our children!

The goal of the Historic Donaldsonville Museum is to preserve the heritage of Donaldsonville and its surrounding area, to promote tourism, and, in general, to be an educational institution to inform people of all generations of the history, architecture, culture, and  technology of the area.

The Historic Donaldsonville Museum presents life as it was in Old Donaldsonville through “Galleries of the Past”. The museum is housed in the B. Lemann & Bro. Building which was the oldest family-owned and operated department store in Louisiana and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is an impressive two and one-half story structure and has been described as “the finest Italianate commercial building in any river town north of New Orleans”. It is evidence of the prosperity and cultural variety around Donaldsonville in the 1800’s. We invite you to view the past as we strive to preserve and present the heritage of Donaldsonville and its surrounding area to people of all generations.
