Since March of 1983, Sherry French Gallery has been a leading force in the promotion of contemporary American realism, which Sherry French saw as the true avant-garde amidst the succession of 80's conceptual art fads. In addition to her regular schedule of one- person and group shows, Sherry French has curated to date 15 educational museum shows which travelled to over 60 museums around the country. These shows investigate varied topics from religion to locomotion in contemporary realism, as well as her expedition series which followed the 19th century tradition of artists travelling to the same locales to paint. Three annual exhibitions have been running for the last seven years, proving to be the most popular shows at the gallery.
