Mission:

Rockford Art Museum's mission is to enrich the quality of life for people of all ages by communicating the pleasure, appreciation and meaning of visual arts through programs of collection, exhibition and education.

About Us:

In 1913, Rockford Art Museum was officially incorporated as the Rockford Art Association. A century later, the organization is consistently named a Partner in Excellence of the Illinois Arts Council.

Funderburg and Kuller galleries primarily feature contemporary surveys of regional and national artwork. Anderson Gallery dedicates more than 5,000 square feet of exhibition space to constantly changing displays of the museum's Permanent Collection. Comprised of more than 1700 works of art, this diverse collection mainly consists of 20th Century American art, American Impressionist paintings, historical and contemporary photography, and pieces by self-taught African American artists. Nationally and internationally renowned contemporary art glass further rounds out the collection's focus areas.

The RAM Art Annex also serves as the museum's current education space. Exhibitions, classes, lectures, artist-in-residence and tours bring thousands of adults and children to Rockford Art Museum each year. Rockford Art Museum Store provides additional financial support for museum operations.

A Partner in Excellence of the Illinois Arts Council, Rockford Art Museum enriches the quality of life for people of all ages through visual arts programs of collection, exhibition and education. From its beginnings as the Rockford Sketch Club in 1888, to incorporation as the Rockford Art Association in 1913, RAM boasts a rich history that reflects the past, present and future of the Rockford region.

Located in the heart of downtown Rockford inside Riverfront Museum Park for the Arts & Sciences (a Rockford Park District facility), Rockford Art Museum offers 17,000 square feet of exhibition space within its three galleries. A non-profit, public museum, RAM is supported by memberships, individual and corporate contributions, and a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
