About Us :
Founded in 1902 by a group of prominent citizens, the Peterborough Historical Society has grown into a comprehensive museum and research center documenting the history of Peterborough, New Hampshire.
With a professional staff and the assistance of a dedicated corps of volunteers, the Peterborough Historical Society serves over 7,000 patrons each year through our school and community programs, museum and research archives, and special events.
The Peterborough Historical Society is an independent, nonprofit organization and receives no operating support from the Town of Peterborough or the State of New Hampshire. Classified as a 501 3(c) nonprofit organization by the IRS, the Historical Society relies on membership dues and donations for its operating expenses.
The Historical Society is a member of the American Association of State and Local History, the New England Museum Association, the Association of New Hampshire Historical Societies, the New Hampshire Archives Group, and the Monadnock Roundtable of Historical Societies
