In 1950, a group of Ocean County residents with a strong interest in preserving the history of our area gathered together to form The Ocean County Historical Society. For several years the group held meetings at different locations around the county. Local historian Pauline S. Miller felt the need for an Historical Society Museum. With her encouragement The Ocean County Historical Society officially came into existence with Mrs. Miller as its first director. More than fifty seven years later OCHS, in its beautiful Victorian home in Toms River, continues the mission of the original Society members: Telling The Stories Of Ocean County.
