Went and visited the new dinosaur exhibit. Our kids thought it was pretty cool (ages 2 and 5). They like to move the dinosaurs but I think they quickly got bored with it... It was fun though. Lots of intricate work was put into those! Great information about the builder as well! Great for a 1 time visit in my opinion.
Great community resource. I'm always impressed with the exhibits that they showcase. My family has an annual pass to the museum which more than worth the price. Over the years, I've gone to probably around 15-20 different exhibits. I'm always impressed by the size of the exhibits and the quality. The museum is not very big, especially when you factor in all of the standard exhibits that never change. They always seem to pack a ton of stuff in. In recent years, the museum has seemed to have fewer and fewer historical exhibits and more science exhibits based in a historical context. Like machines in Rome, Space, this also includes the current (2018) Dinosaurs in motion. I am an Asian historian and would love for the museum to get more strictly historical exhibits. I understand that maybe they are not as "fun," but the museum has always done a good job of making history come alive for children and adults alike. That being said, no matter the exhibits, my family love going here on a regular basis. It will be nice when the new addition is finished and we can hopefully get even more prestigious exhibits coming to our little corner of the world.
The exhibit was amazing! Price was a little steep (at least compared to what I'm used to), but I can see why prices are high to help keep fun exhibits coming. The dinosaur exhibit ended rather quickly, but there was so much information on Idaho's history on the lower level. The gift shop was okay, but there wasn't too much of a selection at a price range that I (a student) could afford.
I went to drop my son off for the first ever night at the museum held at the museum of Idaho. The exhibit was the dinosaurs in motion. I took a look around before I left and it was awesome. Very interactive for everyone. They did a great job with it. I was very impressed.
Beautiful artwork. Loved the yarn portraits. Looks like it offers various classes and workshops in art. I was reprimanded for taking a picture to send my daughter back home. So no cameras allowed.
