About Us:
An artist-run gallery incorporated in 1982, Kingston takes its name from its original location on Kingston Street in Chinatown. In the mid-90s the gallery was one of the very first to relocate to Thayer Street, anchoring what has since developed into the vibrant SoWa arts district of Boston's historic South End.
The gallery is governed and run by dues-paying, exhibiting artist-members and showcases a diverse range of contemporary art in a mutually supportive environment that encourages experimentation and growth. 100% of the income from sales of artwork in the gallery benefits artists. Gallery exhibitions receive attention in both print and online publications including Art in America, Art New England, ArtScope, Boston Globe, Boston Herald, The Weekly Dig, ArtCritical.com, and Time Out Boston.
The gallery space is divided front to back into the Main, Center and Members’ galleries. Occasionally at the discretion of the gallery artists the Center Gallery space is offered to a non-member artist interested in mounting a month-long show to coincide with exhibitions in the Main gallery.
