Joan Hanley was born in New York City and studied at the Honolulu Academy of Art, University of Hawaii (B.F.A.), American Academy of Art in Chicago (with Irving Shapiro), Dartmouth College, University of Colorado, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her career spans painting (acrylic, watercolor and oil), sculpting, illustrating and instructing. Her works have been displayed at the Denver Museum of Art, the Chicago Art Institute, Colorado State University (permanent monument), national corporate collections, and adorn La Veta Colorado’s public spaces. Her works are currently on display at the MA Dorin Gallery in Tulsa, OK, the Cinema Gallery in Urbana, IL, and the Pinon Hill Gallery in La Veta, CO. Joan relocated to Sykesville, Maryland in late 2014, where she continues her adventures in art.
