The gallery showcases period objects produced in New England, emphasizing the important role that this region played in the American Art Pottery Movement. JMW is a nationally recognized source for art pottery by Grueby, Marblehead, SEG/Paul Revere, Dedham, Hampshire, William Walley and Merrimac, as well as Newcomb, Rookwood, and many others. We also feature color woodblock prints by artists such as Frances Gearhart, Eliza Draper Gardiner, William Rice, and others.
The Boston Society of Arts & Crafts, established in 1897 as the first of its kind in America, placed Boston at the forefront of the American Arts & Crafts Movement. With this website we hope to continue this tradition by inviting visitors to browse through our online gallery and linger in the reading room to learn more about some of these fascinating individuals and their craft.
