About

The Haw River Museum, established in 1997, is housed in a 150 year old brick building (formerly used as the fire station and a recreation center. Photographs, artifacts, and other memorabilia focus on the town's history and prominent figures.

Operated by the Haw River Historical Association, The Haw River Museum is a non-profit, educational and historical attraction with something for all ages. We offer a friendly and hands-on environment and are located within walking distance from the Scenic Haw River, Red Slide Park, and HRHA's World War II Homefront Museum - "The Childrey House".

We are open regularly from 1-4 pm on Saturday and Sunday and by appointment.

We are always happy to host your school group, tour, or organization with a specially tailored program. Please call for more information or to set up your group program!

Meetings and programs for the Historical Association are the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 and are open to the public.

Even well-behaved pets are welcome. Photography is allowed.

We do have a gift shop. All proceeds support the Museums.
