Denton County Historical Museum
5800 North Interstate 35, Suite 308
940-380-0877

The museum opened its doors to the public in 1979. Our stated mission is to collect, preserve, display artifacts, including documents, photographs, and other records relative to the history of Denton County and its people for public education through exhibits, research facilities and special events.

The Museum houses the collections of many pioneer families. Family photographs, clothing, Bibles, newspaper clippings and legal documents make up a major portion of the artifacts available for viewing or for research.

The Museum provides a reference library for those researching collectible items, historical events and family history. Special tours may be arranged for school groups, clubs, conferences or reunion visitors. As a non-profit corporation, staffed entirely by volunteers, the Museum stays alive through gift shop sales and devoted Friends of the Museum. Truly a grass-roots organization, it proves that as in our forefathers' days, America - and small museums - can still be built upon a foundation of hard work and a little love and support from friends.
