About Us
Bennett Gallery is owned and operated by Alice, Ashley, Bob and Debi Bennett. The Bennett family has been in the art business over 35 years, and continues this tradition with Bennett Gallery.
This lineage was originated by Bob and Tom Bennett in the late 1960s. These twin brothers, who were self-taught artists, began creating wire sculptures in their spare time. They initially marketed their sculpture at art shows throughout the country. As recognition and popularity of their unique wire sculpture grew, they opened their first art gallery in Carmel, California, in the early 1970's.
Demand for the Bennett's one-of-a-kind wire sculptures was so strong that they shifted their focus to bronze sculptures, which could be reproduced in limited editions and sold to a broader set of collectors. In parallel with this, the Bennetts began expanding their art galleries, opening galleries in a variety of locations across the U.S., including San Francisco, Carmel, Beverly Hills, Palm Springs, Honolulu, Chicago, Dallas, Lake Tahoe, and Scottsdale. They quickly developed an international following, and and an extensive base of collectors around the world.
After a time, however, the Bennett brothers felt that the responsibility of operating a chain of art galleries was taking away time from their creative process. So, they divested their galleries and returned to a singular focus on designing new works of art.
In parallel, other members of the Bennett family began creating art as well. Tom's daughter Terrie started her own line of sculpture, and Bob's daughter Ashley began a career as a full-time painter.
In 2003, members of the Bennett family saw an opportunity to resurrect a gallery that showcased this "connected" collection of art, along with art produced by other members of the extend "Bennett family". This was the genesis of today's Bennett Gallery. Today, Bennett Gallery features a variety of work, including not only Bennett Sculpture, but also paintings, prints, glass art, ceramics, and jewelry.
