The Baton Rouge Gallery - center for contemporary art is proud to offer contemporary art exhibitions to our community featuring professional local and national artists. The Gallery also offers special performances and a spoken word program. Art exhibitions at the Gallery feature current works of its artist members. The Gallery also hosts special juried and invitational exhibitions.
The Baton Rouge Gallery, a non-profit contemporary art gallery, is located in BREC's historic City Park Pavilion. One of the oldest professional artist cooperative galleries in the United States, the Gallery was founded in 1966 downtown and moved to the City Park location in 1984. The pavilion was originally the pool house for City Park built in the late 1920's and was closed in 1963.
Monthly exhibitions at the Gallery feature the work of current artist members including photographers, painters, sculptors, stained-glass artists, printmakers, ceramists, multi-media, and installation artists. The opening receptions are held for each exhibition on the first Wednesday of every month from 7 - 9pm and are free and open to everyone.
We invite you to visit the "Programming" section of this site for more information on our diverse slate of programming that includes everything from film to poetry, music to dance and more. The goal of our programming is to highlight the very best art our area has to offer regardless of medium and engage the public to the best cultural offerings possible. We achieve this by offering numerous opportunities for all to enjoy - often free of charge - the freshest bits of culture the greater Baton Rouge area has to offer!.
