Pembina State Museum
805 State Highway 59

The public is invited to the Monthly Movie Matinee screening at the Pembina State Museum. This month we are showing “Birchbark Canoes,” a documentary from Lakeland PBS following Grant Goltz as he and a group of artists build a traditional birchbark canoe. Free screenings will begin at 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Pop and candy will be available for sale in the Museum Store.

After learning about techniques and materials used to build these historically and culturally significant birchbark canoes, view the custom 11-foot birchbark canoe built by Erik Simula, students, and volunteers at the Ely Folk School in Ely, Minnesota. The canoe will be on display in the museum lobby throughout the weekend before returning to storage, where it will remain until its installation during the upcoming gallery renovation.
