The Mayport Lighthouse Project: A Big Dream for the First Coast
With Dan Hogan
Did you know Mayport has two lighthouses? The St. Johns River Lighthouse and the St. Johns Light. The older of the two, the St. Johns River Lighthouse, was active from 1859 to 1930 and still stands on Naval Station Mayport.
Join the Amelia Island Museum of History on Friday, July 18, to learn more about the ambitious project to relocate this historic lighthouse to City of Jacksonville property along the riverfront—where it can be restored and enjoyed by the public.
Dan Hogan is a passionate advocate for lighthouse preservation. After more than 20 years of involvement in preservation efforts, he now serves as President of the Mayport Lighthouse Association.
